24 February Plane Talk

Last Saturday 24 February I had the privilege of speaking at the Hill Aerospace Museum’s Plane Talk series.  About 50 people attended in the rear annex of the Museum. What a great backdrop, an A-10 and F-16 directly behind me as you see in the picture of my son Travis and I on stage. I spoke about my experiences on 9/11, getting woken up at 0550 in the morning to come into work and help create the refueling plan for the fighters defending the west coast. I gave out some pretty incredible numbers… a KC-135R Model takes off on one mission with enough gas to operate your family minivan for 27 years!

The best part of the Plane Talk series was meeting folks reading Tanker Pilot. I signed 20 books and got to talk with many who already owned the book. I enjoy signing books and meeting all of you. Those of you who have read Tanker Pilot are my best business developers, telling others to go out a buy it.

Brian from C-SPAN’s Book TV cable channel recorded the event. Brian told me C-SPAN should broadcast this event in two to three weeks. As soon as I know when the air date for Tanker Pilot’s Book TV event will be broadcast, I’ll post it here. Brian did tell me my lecture was one of the more interesting he has done in his four years with C-SPAN.

I have a couple events coming up. I will be attending this year’s Airlift Tanker Association Symposium in Tucson Arizona the 23rd through the 26th of April. I have been invited to speak at the Boom Symposium at Altus AFB 26th and 27th of April. Hope to see all of you at these upcoming events.
